Artist Profile

Nimesh  Kapali is one of the most promising young Tabla players in Nepal.
His studies began at an early age of 3 with his father learning madal and at the age of 6 started learning tabla with guru Guru Nhuchhe Darshandhari.
He was fortunate to study with the late tabla maestro Rabin Lai Shrestha for about 5 years till his last moments. He completed the 5th year tabla certificate from Prayag Sangeet Samiti Allahabad and has won numerous awards including, 1st position for The National Tabla Completion in 2019 and the 1st position in the recent tabla contest held by Jay Shree Music Society and was presented the opportunity to learn with  Pandit Gourishankar Karmakar.

Currently, he is a percussionist with the Metronome Band and also performs tabla solos and accompanies various renowned Nepali classical artists.

He has performed at numerous festivals and concerts in Nepal including, Jugalbandhi, Yalamaya Classics, Kirateshwar Sangeetashram, Basanta Sastriya Sangeet Utsav, Jazzmandu, Drumjatra, and Echoes In The Valley.
